Well i guess i got caught up in this miserable thing called life and got distracted from this blog. I did delete alot of my previous posts cause they werent worth shit really. (but is any of this?!) I think im gonna open it back up. Remember, i could careless what you think of me or this page. This is simply a page where i put up ramblings in my head that I feel needs to be let out or ill implode. Here it is, hopefully more movie reviews, show reviews, ect. Also, i have an idea... I think i may start putting up pictures that have inspired me and continue to. All for my pleasure, not yours. It is what it is.
As you might see, I'm still new to this blog page but in the short time that I've had it I've got over 100 views. I don't know who is looking at it but thanks if you are or whatever, doesn't matter to me. The point is, it really just takes 2 seconds to sign up and leave a stupid comment on my page or send me a message. If you need or want a Gmail account i can also send you one of those cause this blog works great through Google's blog search function. So if you will, send me a message telling me how or why your here, what you like dont like, just whatever is on your mind. I love hate mail, or when people call me gay, fag, stupid, ignorant, smelly, ugly, or any other personal comment thats mean. So send those also. Now i promise this blog will get alot "cooler" soon as ill be updating it daily given the chance. God Luck and Good Speed
THE WHIP AND THE BODY (1963) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057078/
Last night i watched this Mario Bava film that i had never seen before. To be honest i had high expectations of this movie before even seeing anything about it. Hell, its Mario Bava for fucks sake. He has made two of my personal favorite movies ive ever seen (Black Sabbath (1963) and Mask of Satan (1960) ) as well as a slew of other great movies that ive loved. Another thing that got me all exited was that the great Christopher Lee was in this. I mean, what movie does he NOT make awsome....? Well. what could be wrong with this movie? Two things i did not like. One, the pacing of the film. I know that Bava is a master at creating "mood" and having great sets and great lighting ect. but it did seem to me that for the first half of this movie the camera liked to linger and pan around too much to try and show a atmosphere that was already present in the movie with the creepy castle by the ocean and the suspicion of a lingering ghost. To me it just seemed overkill really. Second, and i know im giving to much away here but Mr. Lee's character (Kurt Menliff) died waaay too early and limited his spoken lines in the movie to only the first quarter. That sucked... Those two things are really the only thing that i believe holds this movie back from being another gothic masterpiece from Bava as the rest of the movie was great. I thought the beautiful Ida Galli was wonderful and reminded me of the great Barbara Steele not only in her appearance but her acting as well. Just wish i would have seen some flesh in this one..... (yes, that means no nudity) but there is a rather sexy underlying tone of sex through violence hence the name which was pretty cool. Al in all, if you like Bava's work and have never seen this then by all means do so cause its pretty enjoyable and definatly has his trademarks. If youve never seen a Bava film (!) then id start with something else honestly. Heres the trailer (its in French i believe but i dont know...need to ask the wife)
MARK OF THE DEVIL (1970) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065491/
Alright, if you dont know this movie then you really should just not even be reading my blooooog. This movie is filled with EVERYTHING that i love about horror movie. Torture, blood, witches, tits, ect. In my eyes this movie has alot more depth than most all the other "witch hunting" movies ive seen. It seems to focus alot on the personal conflicts that the witch hunters and their inquisition had to go through as far as seeing the ones they love being called out as a witch, locked up, and even tortured. The sultry Olivera Katarina's character Vanessa Benedik couldnt have been better acted as well as the whole cast at the time. All that aside, everytime i watch this movie I catch myself saying "Ya know, this is a really sadistic movie huh...". Ive seen alot of movies that are just pure evil and dirty (Toolbox Murders, The Night Train Murders, Last House.. to name a few) and i belive this fits right in that catagory also. Many memorable scence in this one as well. If youve never seen it before you will be holding you tongue at some part im sure. Also, not to give too much away but the ending is PERFECT to me. I hate watching a happy ending... So go get this movie, i know Blue Underground has it as thats the copy i have and gather you friends and smoke some weed or whatever and HOLD YOUR TONGUES!!
If you cant buy it theres a nice fellow who has posted the whole movie in parts on youtube... Heres part one...
MOON ZERO TWO (1969) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064691/
Went to my local Best Buy the other day which sometimes has some decent older horror movie and saw this jem in the Sci-Fi section. It was a two pack boxed with WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH (1970) which was the follow up to ONE MILLION YEARS B.C (1966). Both are Hammer films that have been remastered to stunning quality. To make this review short and sweet ill just say this, if you like westerns, Sci-Fi or horror then pick this up. Its a great movie that after watching just may surpass one of my favorite sci fi movies PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES (1965) in terms of story and set design. Pick it up watch it then watch WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH (1970) for the titties and awsome story of a land before time. Even if this doesnt make you wanna watch it maybe the music will!!
Not that anyone really reads this shit but i think im gonna add 1 or 2 posts a week of Horror movies i think are great and should be viewed. Like it or not im gonna do it cause it makes me feel good. fuck.
Ok so here we go. Another show review, and lets hope this one goes better than the last one which was just a drunken haze of a review. To start, this is my and mines second time seeing these Swedish rockers, doomers, folkers.....eh whatever you wanna call em and speaking for myself i went with the thought in the back of my head that the show would be as good as the last time we saw em in NC at the Jolie Rouge. (Great place btw) The show this time took place at a dive bar called Local 506 in Chapel Hill........ I need to digress for a minute so bear with me...... NEVER and i mean NEVER go to this fucking place called Local 506 in your life. I dont care if the almighty SLEEP reformed for a one time show with Rush opening for them...... DONT GO. This place was a joke to the point of making me angry that i made the drive. Doors open and im waiting to go in and someone says... "Hey, you gotta fill out paperwork and give them 3 dollars to get a membership to get in." Ok, so 3 extra dollars per person on top of the price for the show to be givin a piece of paper (membership) to a "bar" that i will NEVER go to agian..... wow. Not only this but the girl at the door was a snotty hipster, NO drink specials, a sound guy who deserved a brick to the head for not knowing how to run a sound board for the first 2 bands... ok im done.....now on to the show i promise.... First up we have a shitty hippie/hipster band from Nue Yawk. My wife said they were called TK Jelly and the sumthinanothers. (!) So, yea, funny story, before they went on i went to the bathroom to smoke a bowl and im sitting there (well actually standing there) smoking and a hippie walks in in bandanna and all and sniffs, looks at me and smiles. He starts telling me that he cannot play his guitar high.... not only is that gay, its seemed like he thought i was gonna ask him if he wanted some..... Ok so im high, TK jelly whatever goes on stage and actually bore me to death while im stoned... and thats hard to do, ask my wife. To me their music is unispired drivel that is aimed to be played on the local college radio station. So yea, they went on bored me to death and played waaay to long. Next band, and hurry up i thought as i was getting more pissed for coming as time went on. So the next band were a Swedish band called GRAVEYARD who's myspace labels them as Blues/Folk/Classic rock. I wasnt too familiar with these guys and all really knew was they had a S/T album out on TeePee Records, and i liked what i saw and heard on youtube of em. They go on and as i had mentioned earlier were fucked when it came to the soundguys in-ability to operate a soundboard as his vocals cut out on the first song... pathetic. Anyway they got it working and were able to play a great set that was very "bluesy" and had its moments of downtempo "trodding". Very good band that i think the crowd which had started to form really enjoyed as well as i. I regret not knowing as much as i did about this band cause im unable to give a set list or even a name of a song they played but just trust me, they were def. a great band to get me in a better mood and forget about the venue. Go see em if ya can cause they dont come here often and if they get big and you didnt see em then you wont have stories to make yourself sound cool, like, "Dude, Graveyard. "Yeah, i saw them when they were underground maaaaannnn." Ok, so its about 11 o'clock and more people start pilling in ready to see Witchcraft. We make our way to the front and we notice something very strange. Witchcraft have there own roadies now!! I laugh but I am truely happy that they have got to that status now. Seriously, good for them. Taking PENTAGRAM and doing exactly what they did and making it big is great. Hell, they were on Ozzfest, and are getting ready to support Motörhead in Scandinavia. So Witchcraft take the stage and automatically take everyone back to a era when true doom and rock musicians ruled. Me personally there music gives me a feeling of watching Hammer Horror movies focused on burning witches and inquisitions. Not to sound weird but it really does kinda take me away and to a better place. It seemed that this show they almost went a little softer as compared to the first time i saw them, this time opting to play a lot longer version of the "Alchemist" as well as "Walk.." and "Schyssta". Not to say they did'nt bring out the riffs though, "Wooden Cross" and their title track to their first album "Witchcraft" was played also so i was really happy to hear that. The crowd really seemed to have a great time as Magnus egged them on in his own manner and everyone seemed to welcome them with open arms. (fucking hippes) hur hur. Anywho, I cant stress enough... These guys are GOOD. So good that its a absolute garantee that you will have a blast no matter where you seem em. So keep a eye out for their next tour in America and get of your fat ass and go see them.
I recorded a live video of them and put it on youtube today from this show so check it out and rate and comment. Its actually a pretty badass video and turned out good
